My kids are still young, but they are slowly getting more Internet time alone. While this makes me cringe in some ways, I know that I have to learn to trust my kids. To be honest, it’s not my kids I don’t trust, it’s the predators out there.
Here are some ways we can all keep our kids safe online.
#1. Set a timer.
One way to keep your kids safe online is to create a timer. They are allowed online for a certain amount of time. I like this because kids don’t need to be online for an extended period of time. While the Internet is a great tool, it’s not the only thing there is to life. A little balance is important.
#2. Supervise as much as possible.
I understand that you want to be able to leave your kids to their own fun sometimes. However, I’m a firm believer that even if you’re giving your child some privacy, you still need to check on them. Children aren’t always capable of understanding the online world. They depend on their parents to help learn right from wrong.
#3. Utilize Tools Like OurPact.
You may be wondering what OurPact is and how it can help to keep your kids safe online. OurPact is a parental control application that allows parents to have control of their children’s Internet. For example, parents can block Internet apps or even through daily time schedules.
How Do You Sign Up for OurPact?
You can sign up online or download the app on your Apple device or Android device. Once you have downloaded it or signed up, you’ll pair your child’s device to the OurPact Family Dashboard, which will take about 1 minute.
