How to be a better mom? It’s the question all of us moms ask ourselves!
Motherhood is one of the best gifts you can be given in life but can sometimes be very overwhelming!
And the stress level is probably the highest you have ever had in any job.
We worry as moms!
“Are they eating the right foods?”
“Are they playing with the right toys to build their development?”
“Do they have too much screen time?”
“Are they being picked on at school?”
“Are they reading enough?”
The list could go on and on!
Moms, take a deep breath. There is a reason they say it takes a village.
We all want to rock motherhood and raise the best kiddos that we can, right? Well, I have some tips on how to be a better mom.
They are simple ladies and for sure will make you a better mom in the long run.
10 Tips On How To Be A Better Mom
1. Be Yourself
Don’t waste your time trying to be a mom that you weren’t meant to be.
Maybe you’re not a great cook, that’s okay. Your kids need you to be YOU!
It will show them that they do not measure up to someone they are not as well.
2. Make Friends
It can be hard to make friends as an adult, but it’s necessary. Join local groups like MOPS to help your days as a mom seem more realistic.
Make friends with the moms in your children’s classes.
Talk to the other moms on the playground.
There are so many ways to make mom friends but you have to make the first step. They are probably looking for a mom friend too!
3. Date Your Mate
Just because you’re a mom, it doesn’t mean you can’t date your mate. Make sure you make time for your partner in the upcoming chaotic years.
What does how to be a better mom with your partner? You need each other and are a team in this game of parenting. Learning to communicate and spend some one on one time does not have to stop when you become a mom.
4. Make Time for Mom
One of the biggest mistakes moms make is not making time for themselves.
I’ll repeat take time for YOU. We all stop making time for ourselves, we forget who we are after we have kids.
Always make time for yourself, even it is just going to the bathroom in peace or treating yourself to a little DIY spa treatment.
Do something little each and every day for yourself.
5. Do What Works for You
If one thing can be said for motherhood, it’s that you can’t please everyone!
This is such an important tip for how to be a better mom!
It’s more than important to “do you” and do what works for you. You and your friends will not have the same parenting technique and that’s okay.
Let them judge you, the friends and family that are willing to support you will understand and the others that won’t well this is more important than some pettiness.
6. Don’t Be Ashamed
If you are going through some sort of problem, don’t be ashamed.
Reach out to talk to someone if you need it. No one should judge you for reaching out to talk about the everyday struggles of life.
Motherhood is hard and it not everyone’s natural calling. It takes time on how to be a better mom to figure it all out.
Heck, it took me 8 years to become a better mom to my kids.
The first few years I was knee deep in 3 kids under 3 with diapers, feedings and naps. I was in the thick of it but it gets better.
7. Utilize Local Resources
It’s okay to be on a budget and not have a lot of money to do crazy expensive things. One of the best ways to get out and do stuff with your children is to utilize local resources.
Libraries, parks, and splash pads are all great starting points.
They even have a free bowling program over the summer for kiddos now. All you do is pay for their shoes.
8. Write Things Down
The more kids you have, the less you will remember anything. I’m serious I have full on mom of three brain all day every day.
Make sure you write things down! You will wish you wrote down what time your child’s checkup exam was, so go ahead and make this an everyday habit.
Ladies Y’all know I love my lists! I have calendars and lists everywhere to keep me on track.
How to be a better mom can be a simple as writing it all down to clear your head. That way you can focus on what is in front of you, those sweet faces that need your attention.

9. Get Some Sleep
Motherhood is notorious for taking away sleep from moms. It’s important that you get rest so that you can take care of those kids the next day.
We need to be well rested to be able to function properly.
Nobody wants a cranky mom make sure your getting enough sleep every night or even take that nap when your kids are napping.
Just an extra 30 mins will do your body good.
10. Ask For Help
There are genuinely moms out there who have no help with the kids. I am one of them!
Since we really never lived close to family I did it all by myself while my husband worked 60 hours a week.
It is TOUGH!
Once I started meeting neighbors and making friends I asked for help. Again, it takes a village. I asked my husband to cut his hours a little to help out more too.
Never be afraid to ask for help.
No one is super mom and shouldn’t be expected to feel like it.
There is no secret on how to be a better mom, just ways to find it easier. Your kids will thank you!
