I am always looking for something that a non crafty person like me can make with my kids. I like simple DIY projects that use only a few items. When I read about edible peanut butter playdough I knew this was something I could handle and my kids would love it. You probably have all of these items in your pantry so nothing fancy here.
Edible Peanut Butter Playdough Recipe
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 cups Confectioners Sugar
Here is a tip – spray the cup you are using for the honey with cooking spray or a little oil to make it come out easier.
I dumped all the ingredients into a big mixing bowl and folded them together with a spatula. Once I had it combined I dumped it onto my counter to kneed it through.
With three sets of eyes watching in amazement, I got questions. “Wait, we can play with it and eat it?”. The thought that they were allowed to play with their food and eat it was something they had never heard me say before. I became the best mom that afternoon. They watched very closely and saw what the ingredients were but they were still hesitant to give it a try. After I took a bite they became curious and all took a bite. They loved it, they ate more then they actually played. I think they each made one pizza masterpiece and it became a snack. Just a word of caution the edible peanut butter playdough is very sweet so I told them they couldn’t eat it all in one sitting.
All in all homemade edible peanut better playdough was a huge hit! I stored the leftovers in labeled containers in the fridge. It got a bit hard but the next time they played with it but quickly softened up once they started playing. They even liked the taste better the second time we played with it.
Disclosure: I found this simple recipe on several sites so I can not credit where the recipe came from.
