Electronics have literally taken over the brains of our children. From the moment the awake, till the moment they go to sleep, they are focused on electronics.
Check out these 7 ways you can spend quality time with your child, without the electronics.
Cuddle with your child
Children need to feel wanted. They want to have your attention for a set period of time. Often times, it’s not what you are doing, but how much attention you are lavishing on them. It’s unrealistic to be able to pay attention to your child every second, but you can make the minutes count.
You need to ditch the electronics too
I talked about our children being on electronics, but it’s also important that the adults stay away from the electronics as well. You’re not teaching your child anything by being on electronics, yet banning them.
I made a point earlier about you not being able to spend every second with your child. One major tip for spending quality time together is to be intentional. When you are with your child, BE THERE, keep your mind focused on them.
Do Something They Love
It’s one thing to spend time with your child, but take the time to enter their world as well. Get excited about something that they are excited about. Kids love when you do “stuff” with them and do something they love.
Make it Frequent
Kids aren’t plants, you can’t just let them sit there and expect them to grow on their own. Kids need love, affection, and your time. Spending quality time is something you can do with your child to help them grow up feeling secure and loved. Do yourself a favor and make this time frequent.
Make Them Feel Special
Are you stick with how you can spend quality time with your child? Sometimes money is a factor or time may be an issue. Sometimes quality time isn’t measure in time but in effectiveness. Maybe you and your kiddo wake up early to have breakfast together every morning. This makes them feel special, but it doesn’t last all day. However, it’s still an effective way to spend quality time together.
You Need to Initiate It
Thinking that your child is going to walk up to you and ask to spend time with you every night is naïve. You need to be the one to initiate spending time together. You need to make it a priority. Even if you are a busy family, there are ways you can spend quality time together as a family.
