When I think of summer I think of lots of mini vacations. Our family loves a good long weekend road trip during this time of year but traveling with kids can be a bit challenging sometimes. But there are a few things you can do to make it easier on everyone when taking road trips with children.
3 Tips For Making Road Trips with Children A Breeze this summer!
1 – Entertainment – Keep those little hands and minds busy with some fun coloring books, books to read and maybe a DVD or two depending on how long you will be in the car. This can keep their minds off the long car ride and focused on other fun activities to make the time fly by.
2 – Snacks – If your kids are anything like mine snacks always come in handy because mine seem to be hungry every half hour when traveling. I like to pack nutritious snacks that I know they’ll love like the Sunny Day Snack Bars, and Crunchin’ Crackers (my kiddos favorite) from Earth’s Best and smoothie drinks by Ella’s Kitchen.
- Ella’s Kitchen specializes in USDA organic foods for ages four months and older. They have delicious smoothie drinks like Pears, Peas and Broccoli or Apples and Strawberries made from coconut milk. Their “Nibbly Fingers” line, vanilla cookies, and apple-cinnamon multigrain puffs perfect for traveling!
- Earth’s Best Organic offers pouched purees, such as pumpkin-cranberry-apple and blueberry-banana oatmeal. They have also partnered with “Sesame Street” for a line of portable snacks, like yogurt smoothies and the Sunny Day Snack Bars, and Crunchin’ Crackers, all featuring your favorite Sesame Street character Elmo.
3 – Keep Them Comfy – Comfortable clothing is a must especially on long car rides, the last thing you want to do is have to change their clothes so opt for something they love. When traveling closer to their bedtime pajamas might be better this way when you get to your destination you will not have to change them, they are all ready for bed.
