Moms wear many hats throughout the day, and they are often focused on everyone else but themselves. Being a mom is a difficult job and many things must be sacrificed, however, looking stylish and being comfortable doesn’t have to be amongst those things.
Here are a few tips to help you look stylish and stay comfortable throughout the day:
- Time Management
One of the biggest difficulties we face as parents is the fight against the clock so it’s a necessity to have a plan. Put your multi-tasking hat on and perhaps while you’re cooking dinner, or waiting on your child to complete a homework problem, consider what your child needs the next day. You should also think about what you’ll be doing, who you’ll interact with, the weather, what could come up, etc. Be present, but prepare in your mind.
- Being Resourceful and Shopping Smart
Not all of us have a budget to fill our closet with items from the best departments stores. Visiting a thrift store in an upscale part of town offers many second hand name brand articles of clothing and accessories, allowing you to get the same look without spending the extra money. You can also consider shopping online to save time and still get great styles. San Francisco City Lights has many of the wardrobe basics and must-haves for a casual weekend. You can find simple styles online that can be dressed up if needed with the right accessories and shoes.
- Simple Selections
When stocking your closet, keep it simple. Pick solid colors and leave the vibrant colors and patterns for accessories such as belts, shoes and earrings. For example, a solid black cotton dress can take on several different looks. On a day your child has a casual event like a birthday party at a park, the black cotton dress could be paired with brown cowboy boots and a denim jacket along with some silver accent jewelry. On the other hand, if you have a recital to attend or PTA meeting, the dress could be accented with colorful flats and a cardigan.
- Into Action
Once everyone has what they need for the evening, take a trip to your closet and work on that outfit your have chosen in your mind for the next day. Pick your base article of clothing then try a few different accessories. It’s good to have a hairstyle in mind as well. Pick a routine that works for you and stick to it. It may be quicker for you to shower the night before and finish your hair in the morning.
With a little planning and preparation, maintaining style and comfort can be a fun and expressive experience, rather than a rushed and frazzling experience. These tips will help you get the look you want without sacrificing comfort.
