Well, I’ll just get right into it. This week I was not so frugal, I mean not even the least bit. It’s rare that I buy much when it’s not on sale but almost an entire grocery trip is pretty much unheard of in my house.
I needed a good stock up on so many things like spices and other little things I figured why not just get everything I need and be done? So off JJ and I went to Publix, list of regular “sale” shopping list in hand and the other list that apparently became a family add what they want list once I noticed as we got into the store.
I don’t mind once and a while to meet their requests of special items my kids want. I actually found it sort of cute that they saw my list and added in what they “needed” without me knowing. I even gave them points for spelling.
I happily added everything we had on both lists into my cart, really was not paying any attention to the prices as they added up. With not one single coupon in my hand (gasp) I headed to checkout.
I figured it would be a little higher than my normal $125 a week budget but never did I think that after a $50 Visa gift card I bought the week before it would total almost $150!
That means I had over $200 worth of groceries just at one store. I know this may not seem that bad but I just ran to CVS and Target the day before for other deals that were about $60.
It’s not the totals that got to me, I budget for the year so I am still on track but it was the not one single coupon that got me. That never happens I always have at least 5 in any given transaction, it felt very strange paying full price for nearly half my shopping trip.
Here are my not so frugal shopping totals:
Spent – $227.32
Saved – $56.12
