Moving can be stressful and cumbersome, often taking several weeks to get everything in order.
Fortunately, there are simple ways you can streamline your moving process.
Make the whole thing easier and more efficient. There are a variety of factors that will determine the difficulty of the move, including whether you are moving domestically or internationally, if you are traveling with pets, and the amount of furniture you intend to bring.
When moving internationally, you will first want to get your needed visas, work permits, and vaccinations in order. If you are traveling with a pet, be aware that many destinations will require updated vaccinations, proof of rabies shot, and may require temporary quarantine of the pet upon entry.
Also, shipping furniture overseas is a costly endeavor. Depending on the cost of your furniture, it may be cheaper and far less stressful to leave the furniture behind, and purchase new furniture when you reach your destination. Everything that must be brought along can be packed in boxes, optimizing the space as much as possible. Consider investing in compression sacks, as these will allow you to compact soft items such as clothing and bedding in a smaller space.
Moving with Pets
Most moving companies do not allow pets in the trucks, so you will have to figure out another alternative for transporting your animal. Be sure the home or Streetcar apartment you are moving to is dog friendly, so you don’t have complications. When flying domestically with a pet, small pets can often be brought on board as a carry-on.
However, if the animal is too large to fit underneath the seat in front of you, the animal will have to be checked as luggage. Prepare this well in advance to ensure the airline can accommodate your pet. The airline will have specific requirements regarding kennels, usually mandating the kennel be large enough for your dog to stand up and turn around easily. The kennel cannot be collapsible, and needs to have food and water dishes mounted to the inside rack.
Moving with Furniture
The more stuff you have, the more you will have to pay for a moving company. Calculate whether it is worth it to bring all of your furniture along. It may be more cost effective to leave some furniture behind. Break down everything to its smallest possible form. If tables, chairs, and other furniture can be easily disassembled, this will save you a lot of space and money.
Moving to a new place can be both exciting and intimidating. By ensuring you have everything planned out well in advance, you can have your move go more smoothly and efficiently. With the proper planning you can fit your circumstance to your budget and choose options that are most economical for you and your family. Make sure you found the cheapest Toronto lofts for sale, or the most affordable bungalow so that your new home won’t be taxing your wallet long after you move in.
