Happy Friday! I don’t know about you but this felt like the longest week ever. No reason really, just one of those weeks where I have played catch up every day on my list of things to-do.
I did a decent amount of shopping this week. I have been tracking my spending closer than normal over the summer and realized an adjusted budget was necessary. For many years $100 a week seemed fine for our family of five. This included all grocery, toiletries and household items.
I thought since they were home for the summer they were just hungrier but I realized after school started they just getting older and eat more. Since I have also been shopping at different stores other than Publix prices are a bit higher. Plus taking into account the items I now buy in bulk at BJ’s.
I tracked my spending to average about $150 each week, which isn’t bad but I knew I could do better. So my new adjusted budget will be $125 and I will go back to really watching what we need as opposed to what looks good. The kids having to come with me most of the summer to the grocery store I always spent a bit more. Now that its only me and my youngest the temptation won’t be so bad on me or the budget.
I ran to a few stores this week all excited to see if I could cut the $25ish bucks off my weekly spending. This week was a success. I even had a few dollars left over to go towards my next week BJ’s trip.
What is your weekly budget for your family?
