Happy Friday! This week was the first week of school for us. Getting used to homework, early mornings and more structured days. Overall a great week. If you followed my son’s struggles with Pre-K last year you know he had a tough time. This year for kindergarten I was nervous for a big struggle with him, however he did amazing. I am so proud of him. The first day he had some hidden tears but went right in and reported he had a great day and could not wait to go back.
My daughter entered 2nd grade, she is a social butterfly and as expected started off without any issues. As the week went on she did not want me to walk with her or even acknowledge I was even at her school bringing in my son. She is at the stage where having mom around making sure she knows where to go is embarrassing. 🙁 My first baby is growing up.
My youngest is enjoying having me to himself again! All he wanted to do is go to Trader Joe’s and shop with his own little shopping cart. We had a new store open pretty close to us so we have gone a few times over the summer and I am really liking their snack items. The prices for produce I found were a bit high but overall the prices for snacks were reasonable. We were able to get back into our farmers market for produce this week too.
With just a small trip to Publix for meats, we had a busy week of grocery shopping! My savings were not anywhere near what I’d like but I still stayed within budget and should last us a couple of weeks for snacks and staples. Best of all I think we ate super healthy this week. Now that the kids are back to school, I want to focus on eating better for everyone. I have packed on a few lbs. this summer with no real routine and plan on getting back n track now that the days are more scheduled.
Here are my first week of school shopping totals:
Spent – $91.21
Saved – $47.22
