We love our kids, and sometimes it can be easy to get lost in that “mommy” identity. The good news is, you don’t have to sacrifice your personal style or identity to be a good parent. Your kids will be happier and more relaxed if you take the time to make yourself happier and more self confident.
How You Can Keep Up With Your Look As A Busy Mom
- Use Your Time Effectively
It seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day, so learn to use your time effectively. Decide what really makes you feel great, whether it’s having perfectly quaffed hair, getting those smoldering smokey eyes or just putting on your favorite dress. Prioritize what makes you feel your best. While you might not get to everything, you’ll have that essential that makes you feel stunning.
- Find Quicker Style Solutions
As a busy mom, you probably don’t have an hour to do your hair in the morning. Consider quicker solutions like hair extensions or permanent straightening that will make it easier to get a great look in less time. Virgin hair extensions are made to last and can be curled, straightened and styled the way you want. Hair extensions add the extra volume and style you would only get from expensive products and hours of time. You can also try drying your hair the night before so all you have to do is style it in the morning.
- Be Prepared for Clean Up
Messes happen, jewelry and clothes get tugged on, and you can expect something to go wrong now and then. Keep a bleach pen and a small sewing kit in your purse and try to steer away from the dry clean only styles. You can look great without wearing that white silk dress that will stain with a single drop of water. Make your fashion work for you, don’t work for it.
- Waterproof Makeup
Waterproof makeup, not just mascara, will allow you to keep you look without keeping you from playing with the kids. Get some good waterproof foundation, blush, and eye shadow and enjoy running through the sprinklers with your little ones without worrying about how you’ll look in the pictures.
- Set Some Boundaries
Mommies need me time, and that’s okay. Set some boundaries with your family so you have a little time to yourself. How this works out will be different for each family, but try to enlist your significant other, friends, or parents to spend some time with the kids so you can relax, be yourself, and focus on what makes you happy. You’ll come back a more relaxed and patient mom who’s ready to take on the challenges of the day.
You don’t have to lose yourself to motherhood. While the daily schedule may need some tweaking, you can still look your best and express yourself while looking after the little ones.
