Do you find yourself scrambling for money right before Christmas? If you have children, then you know how much fun it can be to play Santa Claus, but you might need a little extra money to give them the gifts they desire. There are a few ways you can earn money that are easy and perhaps fun for your holiday spending needs.
Before adding a lot of new toys and clothes to the house, why not get rid of the items they no longer play with or can’t wear? The best time to have a yard sale is in the spring and summer because people tend to go to yard sales when it is warm outside. However, you can have a yard sale indoors, or you can try to have a sale on a day that is supposed to be sunny. Price everything to sell so that you can get rid of as many items as possible and so you have money to buy new items. There’s always Craigslist or eBay, too.
When you empty your pockets, you probably have spare change that has fallen out of your wallet or that you put in your pocket after getting change from a purchase. You might even have loose change in your purse. Gather all of the change and put it in a jar. Save the money until a week or two before Christmas. Cash in the change so that you have spending money for presents.
One thing that you might not think about is a cash advance for Christmas. This is typically a loan based on how much you make. Companies like Power Finance can give you an advance on your check, and when you get paid in the next week or two, you pay back the loan. This is a fast way to get money, but it should not be relied upon all the time because the interest charges can get expensive. However, it is a way to put a few more presents under the tree for your Santa Claus duties. Just borrow with a plan to repay in mind.
Applying for a credit card will not only improve your credit score if you pay off the purchase, but it will make it easier to set a limit on how much you spend. Get a card with a secure limit so that when you make the monthly payments, it will reflect on your credit so that you can buy something larger like a car or even a house later on if you decide to look.
From collecting coins to using plastic, there are a few ways you can get more spending money for the holidays. Don’t over spend because you might find that you will struggle after the first of the year. Make a budget for how much you want to spend on each person, and stick with that budget. Find items that are on sale so that you can get more for the money you do save.
