You know that eating organic is better for you, but organic foods can be expensive. It’s much easier on your budget just to pick the generic brand, even if you know that it might not be the best thing for you. Plus, the non-organic brands have readily available coupons while you start to wonder if organic brands even have coupons at all.
Coupons are available for organic foods. However, since organic foods are not as widely popular as non-organic foods, there are not as many coupons, and you may have to look a little harder for them. Here are a few tips for how you can find coupons for organic products so you can start eating healthier on a budget:
Check Manufacturer Web Sites
One of the best ways to get organic coupons is to go straight to the manufacturer. Many organic brands such as Stonyfield and Cascadian Farm publish coupons directly on their web site or in their e-mail newsletter. You may have to sign up for e-mails in order to get the coupons, but you can set your preferences so that you don’t get a lot of other promotional offers that you don’t want.
Go to Coupon Sites
Even general coupon sites carry coupons for organic brands. They won’t be as plentiful as the coupons for non-organic brands, but you can find them. Use the search box or select categories to filter your results. One some sites, you can even sign up for alerts when coupons become available.
Check Health Food Store Flyers
Most grocery stores have a weekly flyer that they make available at the front of the store, and most of these flyers include coupons. Check out the weekly flyer at health food stores such as Whole Foods or Earth Fare to look for coupons on organic brands. You may even be able to go to the web sites of these stores to get coupons or to have them e-mailed to you.
Look in Weekly Mailers
Most people get a weekly mailer full of coupons. Most of the time, the mailer includes coupons for name brand convenience foods and household cleaners. However, these mailers also occasionally include coupons for organic brands. Don’t just overlook these mailers or toss them out. Look through them carefully to find coupons that can help you save money on healthy foods.
The key to saving money on organic foods is to be diligent and to be consistent. Look for coupons on websites and in store flyers or weekly mailers, and keep your eyes open for sales. Stock up on non-perishable organic foods when you see a sale, or stock up on produce and then can it or freeze it to help make it last.
