Walmart has changed their “internal” coupon policy. You will not see a change in the official coupon policy but when you shop.
- All of the Walmart Register systems were updated to accept the GS1 Date bar Codes that almost most coupons have switched to and all eventually be using
- All coupons must be scanned on the flatbed scanners, the handheld scanners are not supposed to be used any more to scan coupons
- The coupon must scan (not a new change) . Cashiers/CSM’s or Managers are not allowed to override or manually enter coupons.
- If a coupon does not scan they are instructed to return the coupon to you. This applies toPrintable Coupons and the newspaper insert coupons.
This could be a good thing. Its no longer up to the cashier to accept anything. Plain and simple if it will not scan they will not take it. This will limit the amount of coupon fraud going on. Its unfortunate this even happens. There are great coupons out there, I feel there is no need to use them incorrectly. Hopefully we will see higher value coupons when coupon fraud is reduced. Any thoughts?
